The first roughs
Here are hand roughs I made for my advertisement. Most of them use the winning slogan, "Wind Power, Money Shower," but I also experimented with other slogans. I also refined my target audience to families, green energy companies, and manufacturers. The magazines they will be featured in is Family Circle, E Magazine, and The Manufacturer, respectively.

Selling the windmill..
I want to sell the vertical-axis windmill as a way of getting alternative energy. Because it does not cause any pollution, it might be of interest to environmentalists. Also, because it creates energy from the wind, it would be useful to middle class people looking for ways to save money in the long run due to the lowered energy bill. What makes the vertical-axis windmill more appealing than the horizontal-axis (European-style) windmill is that it can capture winds going in all directions, giving it a greater chance to produce energy, as wind is extremely variable and uncontrollable. I am also thinking about using it in a metaphorical advertisement.
Watts Final
Here is my final version of my Watts Tower advertisement. My slogan is "Knowledge is Power with Watts Towers." My goal is to promote Watts Towers as a place for students to learn and understand more about California history as a field trip or for interest in furthering their education. My target audience is local high school history students and teachers. The designer I chose is Alexey Brodovitch, and the grid I used is the modular grid.
